Home - the starting place of love, hope, and dreams.

Welcome to Good Things Begin at Home

Our Story

Real estate is a business. If you speak with any real estate agent, mortgage broker, property manager, builder, or developer, a common theme often emerges: buying property is a very good investment. In fact, Good Things Begin at Home was founded by a real estate agent who specialized in working with investors. Through this experience, our Founder realized that housing had become a commodity, yet at its core, property is a home - a basic human right. Wanting to make a difference in a more impactful way, and believing there should be balance, she established GTBH with the goal of directly supporting families and individuals seeking shelter and security. After all, a stable home is the foundation for many of life's good things.

Our Mission

For many, the stark reality is that one missed paycheck, one car emergency, or one medical bill can cause people to face homelessness.

The mission of Good Things Begin at Home is to support low-income individuals across all communities by preventing homelessness, assisting people that are transitioning out of homelessness, and helping people settle into permanent housing, effectively providing a balanced continuum of care through 3 varied programs.

Our Programs

  • Homelessness Prevention

We combine rental assistance with financial counseling to help individuals avoid homelessness and maintain their housing.

  • Homelessness Transition

We provide hotel stay vouchers while individuals seek permanent housing.

  • Homelessness Stabilization

We offer security deposit assistance along with furniture and household goods to help individuals settle into their new home.

Here’s the Facts

  • Metro Atlanta reported over 144,000 eviction filings in 2023 – that’s almost 400 people a day.

  • Homelessness is trending upwards again. Currently, Georgia’s homeless population is around 3,500 people on any given night.

  • The average cost to furnish a 2 bedroom home is around $4,500. If this was done based on Georgia’s minimum wage of $7.25, it would take a person almost 4 months to furnish their home (and that’s without paying anything else).
